Coffee

I quit coffee once. It was before I moved to New Orleans in 2001. I am going to quit again. It makes me nervous. It is an expensive habit. When I am renting space at a coffee shop, I’ll drink orange juice. This morning, I had half a cup, to stave off any headaches. Now I’m sitting here at Bayou Coffee House with a small glass of OJ.

I’ve given up coffee once a year for the last five years. Highly recommended. I usually step it down over a week or several weeks. Then at least a week with no caffeine. Then I generally switch to tea for a few months.

How’s your coffee abstinence going? This morning I had iced “cold drip” (it’s really cold SOAK) CDM instead of my usual cuppa strong English black tea and I felt SO focused and energetic! Thinking maybe it’s time for a switch. I used to drink cold drip when I lived in NOLA and my neighbor Becky gave us concentrate…

Ah well, on to other useful drinks, in this case a 22 oz. of Fat Tire amber ale. Not as good as Bell’s Two Hearted, but enough to mellow me out for an evening of job apps and yard sale sorting, maybe even a short walk in the lovely weather we’re enjoying.
