From JazzFest
May 6th, 2006Beat. I’m writing from JazzFest, the WWOZ brass pass tent, where I am watching the computer table for Christian Kuffner.
Brainjams was fun. Turns out that I’m not a madman, alone in the wilderness. Bloggers are real. A fever dream come true.
The disconnect was percieved on both sides. I was disarmed. An effective application of open spaces. Success for Chris and Kristie. Good show.
Out until late. Jeff Harris can tell a story. Sip, listen, repeat.
Friday was lackadaisical. Hangovers tend to be. Becky arrives to accompany me in a pursuit of things medicinal. Sushi. Ice cream. Naps. We met with Dave Coustan for a drink. Learn no lessons. Wee hours again.
Up early today. Nackered.
It is getting ready to rain something awful.
I’m off to find a Cuban sandwich, and, maybe, listen to jazz.
Wish you were here.

I regret that I didn’t get a chance to get to JazzFest today. Had to make a couple of stops on Magazine Street and between the traffic and the sinkholes, I ran out of time. Aidan Gill was booked solid, so I couldn’t get my favorite shave and haircut. It’ll have to wait till next time.
Thanks for showing me around and hanging out. I’m home in the ATL now and suffering from New Orleans withdrawal already, in addition to the exhaustion.
Good to hear that Adian Gill is booked solid.
New Orleans businesses need a boost at JazzFest. Everything slows down in the summer months.
It was good to meet you, of course. I’ll post the photos of Brainjams, Coop’s, Oswald’s Speakeasy, The Spotted Cat, and Harry’s Corner soon, don’t worry.
Also, I’ll be writing more about Brainjams. It might be better written as fits and starts. Give it couple days.
Wish I’d been there too. Oh well, Ann Arbor is green again. Yesterday I sat outside in shorts and a t-shirt. Blogged from my deck. If only spring/summer lasted longer here.
So bummed we missed you on Saturday, but so very happy to have been able to play on Thursday. And, I wish to thank you as I now have a new favorite place in NOLA…Coop’s. Wow - still taste that pasta - incredible.
Anyway, on a more ‘professional’ note - you have done some amazing things in, and for NOLA, and I cannot wait to see what else comes down the pipeline from you.
Here to our paths crossing many times in this lifetime.
Thank you for your words of encouragement. They are very dear to me.
