Mitch Landrieu Second Line

Tomorrow (today) at the corner of St Phillip and Decatur at 4:30 pm. By 5:30 the parade will arrive at Mulate’s at 201 Julia St where Erma Thomas will be performing. So says Jimmy Delery. I’ll be there.

OK, I just read the AP story that confirms the runoff. Any good election day tales to tell us?

Oh, it’s Irma with an I, silly boy. How WAS the Second Line?

I met one of the producers of the film “Junebug”–a truly lovely little film, and Amy Adams is utterly amazing–on my photo shoot this morning. We chatted about location scouting in NOLA and how weirdly apathetic the film commission there was in the late 90’s. Of course it’s all changed with the new tax incentives, etc. He said he thought years from now we’d all see how Katrina and its bungling by every level of government would be seen as a far greater tragedy than 9/11. Agreed.

Karla’s talking in her sleep and I’m trying to sort of speed read The Devil in the White City so I can join my yoga teacher’s book club meeting Tuesday…

Can’t wait for tomorrow’s post. I’m expecting a full rundown!

Didn’t make it to the second line. I abstained from coffee in the morning and was too tired to move. Slept an additional five hours in the afternoon.

Since Nagin, the film industry has been quite fond of New Orleans. He must have done something to clear the path, because filming here is a natural choice. Great weather, affordable labor, and gorgeous locations.

9/11? Whatever. If we’re the bigger tragedy, what do we win?

Thank you for your expectation. That’s encouraging.
