Robin Malta Murdered

Or so it seems. He is the man who cuts my hair. He had a salon called Salon ‘d Malta on Dumaine in the French Quarter, toward the Marigny Triangle. He liked country music, but the people around him did not. “Robin Malta, 43, was found dead in his house at 634 Port St. between Chartres and Royal streets when his sister went to check on him”, from the Times-Picayne.

Robin Malta was a long time friend and I have to tell you that he was one of the most loving, caring and giving persons I have ever known in my life next to my Great Grand Mother. Robin was Southern Decadence Grand Marshal in 1998 and he named me Grand Marshal in 1999 but he and I were very close friends way before that. He and I used to enjoy creating art together AND he and I enjoyed fund raising together AND we enjoyed so very many other aspects of life and living as friends, as buddies, as human beings.
Robin’s respect for fellow human beings is what I feel was his most endearing trait amongst a host of others. The world has lost a kind and generous man and I am greatly saddened. I can hear him (in my mind) speaking to me. My heart grieves so severely I am finding it hard to capture the words to convey Robin - but if I had to sum him up in one word it would have to be LOVING! Your friends and family will indeed miss you Robin, but it’s sad that taken from this world was a soul who brought such grace and kindness to this world.
    Always and forever,
    Your friend

I wandered past the Salon D’ Malta today. I won’t be able to attend his memorial out on Clearview Parkway. It’s too far. I wish there was something in New Orleans to attend.

It is good to hear more about Robin, to know more about him. As one of his clients, he was a fixture in my life. I enjoyed the space he created at Salon D’ Malta. I was excited for him for creating his own product line.

I am always at a loss as to what to say at moments like these. Robin reached a lot of people. I will miss him and remember him.

Robin was without a doubt one of the kindest, gentlest most loving people I’ve known in the time I’ve lived in New Orleans.

My heart goes out to Monica and the rest of Robin’s family, as well as his extended family, of which I’ve always been proud to be a part of.

I have organized an informal collection to donate some funds to Crimestoppers in the hopes that either the police or the community will learn the identity of his killer and bring him to justice. It’s not much, but I hope it helps.

I feel very strongly it was one of our own that did this to Robin, and I pray you never find peace, that you never experience love, that every day you see the light in Robin’s eyes reflected in the community that embraced him, and that you are haunted by the evil you have wrought for the rest of your days.

Then, when you die, I hope the nephilim feast on your perpetually regenerating flesh for all eternity.

    Dear Mr. Jim C. Says:

    TOUCHE AND DITTO INDEED!

I have been trying to commit the more positive aspects of Robin himself to paper and pen in an effort to share Robin’s beauty with others. I have purposely been steering away from commemorating the filthy killer(s?) of my dear friend as I am a firm believer that criminals ENJOY being called evil. They like that and wear it as a badge (don’t you think?). Myself I try to refer to the criminal as an piece of trash and a complete low-life. The criminal certainly must be an idiot and a goof off goof ball and IT (the criminal) has to entirely STUPID and have no brain at all to have commited such a thing.

The filthy piece of trash will be consumed by his own idiocy and I’m sure his own stupidity will be what gives him away! I believe the killer is stuipid and has no brain what so ever simply because if he had a brain at all this crime would never have occured. I’m sure the criminal is an idiot and his mother is probably one too!

We need to send insults to this person and let him know that killing Robin is no Badge of courage it’s a mark of mental retardation! I’m sure his whole family is genetically inferior to the earth worm and he’s mentally inferior and genetically inferior to the DODO BIRD!

I have a very strong feeling that the person who killed Robin Malta is someone we all know. Once I factor in a few details the police and media were sloppy enough to disclose improperly, the picture of who the killer might be grows a bit clearer.

I might ask that each of us take a moment to remember where each of us was and what we were doing around the time that Robin was killed. It may help you to remember something that is sitting just outside the periphery of memory…a person who is conspicuously missing only after Robin’s murder, for example. I can already think of at least a few people who I haven’t seen since then that haven’t volunteered an explanation, and I’m willing to bet you do too. I’m not saying these people are necessarily up to no good, but it is interesting that after this happened some certain individuals have stopped coming around.

One of those people may very well be the piece of shit the police are seeking.

Remain diligent and my thoughts and prayers are with Robin, Mon, and all of us.

Unfortunately, I was not in New Orleans when Robin was stolen from humanity. Your belief that someone knows something but either doesn’t realize it OR they aren’t coming forward with that information may very well be true - but there’s no way of knowing. I sincerely hope that the investigative team was diligent enough to grab as much evidence from the crime scene as possible (forensically).

This may sound rather crazy but they might want to consider a Psychic Detective if the investigation gets stuck or goes cold. I don’t know if a Psychic Dectective would indeed be the answer but Robin was a very passionate man and to me it would logically follow that psychically Robin could me detected. IAnd though I couldn’t explain the particulars as to how such a detective’s abilities ACTUALLY WORK IN PRACTICE I do feel that every option should be considered in the desire to solve this murder. Robin was a dynamo in life I can ONLY believe that he’s a dynamo in the spirit realm as well (that’s merely my opinion).

All I know is I would give ANYTHING to know “who done it” as would quite a number of other individuals. I pray nightly and daily that definitive evidence comes to light so the gutter snipe piece of trash may be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

I do agree, any leads are potentially important but where does one begin to look?

My sincere love and affection is always and forever with the Malta family! I know only one REAL thing and that is I shall never forget my friend Robin Malta as long as I live and my sentiments are shared by countless others!

Robin was my stylist. The only person I would let near my hair in fact. He was a fun and generous man. I was sad to learn of his passing. I came across this blog when, after two consecutive nights, I had specific dreams about Robin. He passed several months ago so this wasn’t the most prevalent thing on my mind during the last two nights. The dreams were specific. I was drawn to look into reports on his death as a result to see if there were any facts within my dreams that I didn’t know before. I was shocked. I didn’t know he had a roommate and that the roommate was ‘looked’ at, but that was in my dream. I have a specific thought about who the detectives should look to based on these dreams … but I have never had anything like this happen before and, so, I temper my desire for seeing Robin’s murderer brought to justice, with my fear of embarrassing myself by contact detectives with my ‘dreams’.

I just wanted to say a quick word about rumors and idle talk.

If anyone among us “knew” who the person who killed Robin, I would hope they would immediately call the police and wouldn’t feel the need to run around telling people “Everyone knows who did it….” or “I had this dream about Robin” instead. To date, Robin’s murder remains unsolved, but unfortunately there’s a hundred of you out there who are pretty free with your opinions regarding such things.

Robin’s death is still very fresh and raw in my memory and unsubstantiated gossip doesn’t help bring his killer to justice. I’ve been talking to some people about this and the most disturbing aspect of it all is that there are some of you out there that for whatever reason think it’s perfectly acceptable to say you know who did it, everyone knows who did it, etc. regarding such things without backing any of it up with anything resembling fact. I caution you to couch your opinions with a bit of delicacy before you find yourself in an interrogation cell to explain how you “know” so much.

The bottom line is, if you know something and/or you are running around saying you know who did it, you need to talk to an NOPD homicide detective, like Det. Barnes. If you don’t know something useful, do us all a favor and shut your mouth rather than using this horrendous act to elevate your waning social status.

I ask that the community PLEASE DO NOT give up. Robin wouldn’t have given up on us if the tables had been turned, not in a million years. I’m not about to give up now.

It takes courage to speak the truth. It takes zero courage to spout unsubstantiated rumors to make yourself look wise.

Robin and I had been close friends many years and after I left for the Mississippi Gulf Coast are lives travled down different roads. We had talked on the phone about his uscessful Salon and new product line. I was so proud. He was truly a creative person filled with magical thoughts and ideas and could make them from nothing to a work of art. You never really realize until someone is actually gone, the void that thier passing left. I lost my sister in December 2006 this just added make the void greater. But my memories of both are like the old Beatles tune “In my life” When i play that i will alawys think of Robin and my sister. I miss them both….

well certainly excuse me for reaching out with sincere sadness for a terrible crime that took a good man from the earth and mentioning dreams that led me to explore the investigation of his case further. You clearly only wanted to hear yourself talk. Rather then lashing out at those who clearly expressed the same thoughts as you, why don’t you take your own advise. Don’t make a public post if people’s sincerity bothers you. Oh, and remember for every finger you point at others, 3 more are pointing at you.

May spirit protect Robin’s eternal soul and bring him and his grieving family peace.

Robin was indeed a very caring individual, to find out about his death today on November 8th- his birthday is overwhelming to me. I live in Baton Rouge, and called to make an appointment for a color, I heard his sister say the words he had past away, was a shock to my system. I can not understand how an individual could be so in-human. I enjoyed spending my day at his salon when I had an appointment because Robin had so many stories to tell, and was alway full of life! May he rest in peace! I do hope who ever did this unrighteous act is truly punished for his or her inhuman act. I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU ROBIN….

Hey Anonymous, nobody was singling you out, but if you want to take it that way, feel free. I care enough about the result to criticize the method, and if you don’t like it, I’ll say it like my momma used to say….”tough shit.”

The good news is that they have now apparently narrowed in on a suspect. I pray they now find her accomplises and they all receive solid convictions with harsh sentencing and hard labor.

I’ll be saying another prayer tonight for Robin, Mon, his family, and his friends.

jim c, i hope they find the REAL person(s) responsible for this. if you really and truly care enough about the results to make sure the right person / people are found, i would be questioning the so called “facts”/ findings if you have that access available to you. dont assume what you hear in the media to be true. or what the NOPD “want” to be true to be so.

I question everything I hear and read because in this day and age, truth no longer trumps sensationalism.

You’re absolutely right. I take everything I hear from the media and the cops with a grain of salt.

I hope they can do better than this. Right now the way it appears, they grabbed someone convenient to pin the murder on. Whether or not that woman actually had a thing to do with his murder or by virtue of indirect action cause his murder, I just want THE person or persons caught and punished and I want the world to know.

I want justice and I want the police to remain diligent, even if they could care less about one less gay man in the world.

No news. Nothing at all. It’s like I expected it would be; as if nothing happened.

I care, but I don’t believe the police care about anyone but their own and their reputations.

I care very much who killed my friend and also why the police leaked sordid details about his death and the condition of his body to the Times Picayune.

No charges, no arrests, no leads, no word; except for the condition of his body when discovered.

Don’t trust the police. In spite of what they say, they are ALL the same. And now they are trying to get rid of all the progress that Pennington made by making themselves unaccountable to the public.

I hate this fucking place now.
