Surprise Meeting
August 30th, 2006For most of you, I’m sure, the first meeting of the Community Support Organization that you’ve missed by the time you’ve read this, will come as a suprise. It’s at the Hilton at 8:00 am tomorrow morning. Another example of outreach on a need to know basis. Keep in mind that although I’ll be working with volunteers to keep track of the doings of the UNOP, I’m not officially involved in it, in any way.

Let’s go
In the am. 7:30 am. Can you believe this? How is a working person supposed to attend?
Well, they’re not supposed to attend.
On the 29th, they sent out a fancy HTML email saying that the New Orleans Community Support Foundation will meet on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 8:00am. Great, I (and many others) have to be at work.
Their constant picking of inconvenient times makes me think that they want those present whose full-time jobs are city planning, i.e. themselves.
Read today’s T-P headline: Planning process unclear.
Karen and I went. Karen paid $8.00 to park at the Hilton. She brought her parking stub in. At some point, when Karen was speaking with a Swiss journalist, Bobbie Hill sidles up to finese Karen who’d asked why her emails are not returned.
Karen produces the parking stub and asks if she can have it validated.
Bobbie Hill says no. Then Karen complains about a downtown location with little parking. Bobbie explains that they got the venue for free.
That’s good, you see, because now they can spend the money on planning.
The Parking Lot was not even that nice! I was interested in seeing who our Community Support Representative was. Unfortunatly he was not in attendence. There were a few intrepid Citizens.
Only a very few.
