Kalypso and Ray

For those of you tuneing in from beyond the bayou, here’s a little more Chocote City for you. It’s Kalypso and Ray Nagin with Kalypso’s take on our city’s diversity.

Writ of Mandamus

A couple of the regulars at Cafe Rose Nicaud have filed a writ of mandamus which has been servied to Mayor Ray Nagin. What is it? Basically, it’s requesting the Mayor to come up with a redevelopment plan for the City of New Orleans, Parish of Orleans. Orleans Parish is the only Parish in Louisiana that has not developed a plan, and until they do, they are unable Community Development Block Grants and other federal funds. Post the writ tomorrow, maybe.

The Nagin Era Continues

(An untimely post, sitting in my drafts.) Shortly after the election day whollop, Rebecca Houtman whisked me away for a retreat from politics. We snuck off to watch a candy coated movie in Harahan, then to sleep. In the morning we went in search of breakfast foods. Bacon! Then to CompUSA to paruse the new MacBook. It should do nicely. Won’t be doing much photo blogging until the Powerbook is replaced. I have photographs of a great many things. The retreat became a liquid at Bachaanal on Sunday evening. Gourmet food served in styrofoam clam shells. We had enough wine that we were dancing and not thinking much of it. We crawled down Frenchmen and Decatur. Margaritas. A bender. Spent today sorting through the email that accumulated. Getting back into the swing of things. Web publishing workshop, remember? Nathan Shroyer keeps emailing me about it.

Ray Nagin on Think New Orleans

Yup. Ray Nagin was at the last 9th Ward Homeowners Association meeting. We recorded his message online. If you want to hear Ray Nagin speaking clearly to his constituents, go listen to his statement.

I really enjoyed listening to him speak. He’s a plain dealer. It was business communication, and full of information and opinion.

Rather than comment here, please leave your comments in the Think New Orleans post for the audio, 9th Ward Homeowners: Guest Mayor Ray Nagin.

The quality of information that comes out of the 9th Ward Homeowner’s Meeting is amazing, by the way. It is a very well moderated, and open community forum.
